Water Activities
Perfect surfing
El Salvador's surfing is making waves
El Salvador is a secretive surfing paradise, warm water, many point
breaks and zero crowds. Follow La Libertad in your 4X4 to different
breaks, using swell conditions and you own ability as your guide.
Use local information, and rent boards for under $20 per day.
Kayak surfing
Try surfing a different way, like the Polynesians, rent a surf
kayak or wave ski. Friendly local guides know the ideal spots
ideal for this unique sport where crowds are never a problem.
Some offer an introductory lesson and/or video to get you started.
Kayak tours
Sea Kayaking in El Salvador. Paddling several types
of Kayaks is ideal for wherever you go in El Salvador, along outcrop
cliffs, touching on sandy beaches, and up river mouths. For a break,
take a quick dip in a salt water fed pool in the coral.
Climate
There are three climates zones which vary according to the altitude
above sea level, which are:
Warm
land or hot tropical savannas, from 0 to 600 meters, template lands
from 600 to 1200 meters, and cold lands or height tropical climate,
from 1200 to 2700 meters. There are two seasons and two transitions
periods during the year: a dry season from November to April and
rainy season from May to October, and approximately a 30 day transition
in between. Overall, the sun shines in El Salvador 360 days a year,
and the average temperature is around 80 F.
Beaches
The coast of small El Salvador is blessed
with a large number of absolutely different beach attractions.
In Ahuachapán, for
instance, at the beach Barra de Santiago, visitors can cross by
boat through the dense mangrove swamps and discover spectacular
virgin beaches. The largest coral reef on the Central American
Pacific coast can be visited starting at the beach Los Cóbanos
which is just 85 km away from San Salvador. The city of Sihuapilapa
invites visitors to one of the most beautiful landscapes of the
Pacific coast in El Salvador. And for surfers, the beach El Sunzal
is ideal. The most famous beach is possibly Costa del Sol. Here
many hotels are located directly on the beach. The most beautiful
and largest beach, however, is said to be El Cuco. And those who
are just looking for some relaxation should visit El Tamarindo,
as here the sea is absolutely calm and perfect for swimming. From
La Barra de Santiago in Ahuachapan Department to the set of beaches
of El Tamarindo in Union Department, the country has over three
hundred kilometers of Pacific shoreline. With a tropical climate
and beautiful rock and cliff formations and lush vegetation, Salvador's
coast is frequented by tourists and citizens.
